Also, speaking of Holes ships yes I KNOW that absolutely NONE of my followers care about this book, but w/e w/e I’m into it at the moment and I can’t stop help, I did not expect to ship Stanley/Zero when rereading it.
Whoops HOW WRONG I WAS.
The ship hit me with the force of Mr. Sir’s water truck turning around after he discovered that someone had stolen his sunflower seeds.

brodinsons:
The name is Watson, Joan Watson. Lucy Liu is set to play Sherlock Holmes’ sidekick in CBS’ drama pilot Elementary, whose tweaks to Arthur Connan Doyle’s classic include switching Watson’s gender to female. The project, written by Robert Doherty, is set in present day and stars Jonny Lee Miller as eccentric Brit Sherlock Holmes, a former consultant to Scotland...

OH YEAH i remember the steampunk bears JFC you actually used that? HAHAHHAHAA oh dear. Whatever works I guess! Anyway if you want to get this PUBLISHED that is even more reason to start scraping together $$ for an editor. Good luck w/ draft 1.5 tho.
Well, I “used” the steampunk bears in the sense...

so i’m a flake and dont pay attention to anything that isn’t hot people on my dash - what are you writing? why cant you get an editor?
Right now, my main writing project is finishing my NaNoWriMo novel (though, as usual, I have several ongoing fanfic projects as well).
I think I explained the plot to you...

mizufae replied to your post: I have discovered that second drafts are 9385195 times harder to write than first drafts.
this is why we have editors and betas, dear.
I know, but I don’t have either of those, so it’s basically just me and a 50,000+ word manuscript that I wrote in a little over a month.
Which means a lot of filler plot points that I’m going to have to go through...

I have discovered that second drafts are 9385195...
I’ll start adding paragraphs to a scene, but then the whole flow of it gets disrupted, and preexisting paragraphs no longer fit quite right. Inevitably I’ll have to discard some of them. But then deleting them ruins some of the buildup to other paragraphs, so I’ll have to edit or discard those, too, and ultimately the scene is broken into disjointed sections.
What do I do with...

Also, I have finally cracked open the empty word document that I’d made months ago for the second draft of my novel.

AH MEDA THIS IS REALLY GOOD!
I LOVE IT.
ALL OF YOUR CHARACTERS ARE FASCINATING AND GREAT AND I’M ALREADY ATTACHED TO THEM.
Also, I can totally see it becoming a giant sci-fi series! And I would be right there buying the books and writing fic.

Also, when I reread Holes earlier today, it...
Because that book is full of tight parallels.
With the shoes, the onions, the peaches, Kate Barlow, Madame Zeroni, the Walkers, the lizards, the treasure, the song, and 90% of the entire book.
It’s all interwoven. Everything introduced fits into the story in some important way. Literally everything.
And it’s all incredibly improbable, but I absolutely love all of those parallels and...

Okay so I've stumbled upon the worst fanfic ever.
On some whim, I decided to reread Holes today, so after that, out of curiosity, I looked it up on ff.n to see if there was even anything there.
There was.
And the description of this bothered me enough that I had to read it.
I’d post the description, but it has a possibly triggering word in it (also, warning: the author’s note of the fic itself has a rape joke) and it is in general...
