Sometimes, while I’m writing my novel this month, I stop and dwell on the fact that my dad is also writing a novel, only his novel is something he plans to use as a tool to demonstrate the potentially devastating consequences of genetic modification that can be done, and is being done right now.
And I’m writing a fairly generic fantasy steampunk novel.
Granted, I’m attempting to break gender barriers (which I’m probably not doing as well at as I’d hoped), and two of the three main couples in the story are homosexual, and I’m trying to incorporate a few of the largest issues with the foster care system in there, too (though all of these things are only being addressed in the context of the plot), but…
Think of all of the political, world-changing statements I could be attempting to make instead.
